The Student Equipment Loaner Program is intended for academic use.  It is available to students who are currently enrolled that do not have the technology necessary to complete their required Tarleton assignments.


Tarleton-owned equipment may be assigned to currently enrolled student for academic use. The student must remain enrolled at Tarleton and remain in good standing (no financial holds) during the loan period. Equipment may be borrowed for 28 days with the option of online renewals.

The borrowed equipment can be picked up at the Stephenville or Fort Worth Campus or we can Ship the device to you.   Please specify your preference for shipping or pickup below.  If you choose the option to Pickup the device, you will be contacted by Tarleton ITS to arrange the time and location.

Terms of Use of Tarleton-Owned Equipment

The student is financially responsible for the Tarleton-owned equipment including:
  • If the equipment is damaged or the student fails to return the equipment in good working condition, the student may have a financial hold placed upon their account.
  • The student is provided this equipment for up to 6 months to support academic needs.
  • Students may install software on their Tarleton State ITS Loaner Laptop as they would to a personal laptop. ITS does not create custom software images for individual needs or to support specific classes.
  • The laptop will be re-imaged upon its return and any data will be irretrievably wiped. No accommodation can be made for recovering data left behind on the laptop once it has been returned.
Student Responsibilities regarding Tarleton-Owned Equipment

The student has the following responsibilities and obligations to Tarleton in exchange for use of the Tarleton-owned equipment:
  • Ensure the laptop operating system updates and patches are installed when released.
  • Ensure antivirus software remains enabled.
  • Safeguard equipment from physical damage, theft or loss.
  • Promptly report stolen equipment to the Tarleton University Policy Department (254-968-9002) and the Tarleton ITS Help Desk (254.968.9885)
  • Remove and save personal data from the laptop before it is returned. All files left on the laptop will be erased when it is returned. ITS accepts no responsibility for lost files.
Equipment Returns

The student is solely responsible for returning this borrowed equipment on time and in the same condition as when it was delivered to the student.  The equipment will be inspected upon return.
  • If, after an Information Technology Services (ITS) staff inspection, it is determined that the student damaged the webcam or laptop screen, hardware and/or casing, the student will be charged repair or replacement costs.
  • If after an ITS staff inspection, it is determined that the student did not return all cables or accessories, the student will be charged replacement costs.
  • If after an ITS staff inspection, it is determined that the student tampered with the equipment, the student will be charged to repair or replace the borrowed equipment and any cables or accessories and may also be subject to disciplinary action.
  • All files left on the laptop will be erased. ITS accepts no responsibility for lost files.
